Hello there

Hi, I’m Deanna.

I became an athletic therapist in 1995, and for years my strong hands did the work. Then, in 2000, in the middle of the worst anxiety attack of my life, I pressed my hand into my abdomen — and everything began to change.

That moment grew into Fluid Isometrics™, and then into Block Therapy™: a simple practice that lets you do for your own body what I used to do in the treatment room. Teaching people to care for themselves is the work I love most.

What Deanna teaches

Block Therapy: bodywork, exercise and meditation in one.

Fascia is the connective tissue that links the whole body, head to toe. When it’s compressed, we feel it — in how we move, how we stand and how we breathe. Block Therapy is Deanna’s self-care practice for giving that tissue room again.

  • The block

A handcrafted cedar block called the Block Buddy™. Simple, sturdy and made to be used at home.

  • Your body weight

You lie over the block and let your own weight apply slow, steady pressure. No forcing, no equipment to learn.

  • Your breath

Deep diaphragmatic breathing is the engine of the practice, bringing blood and oxygen back to tissue that has been compressed.
